MacOS Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install The Sims 4 DLCs on MacOS

Important Notice:

The Sims 4 on Mac requires special compatibility tools. This guide assumes you're using CrossOver, Parallels, or a similar Windows compatibility layer.

Install Compatibility Software

Choose one of these options to run Windows applications on Mac:

  • CrossOver - Recommended for gaming
  • Parallels Desktop - Full Windows VM
  • Wine/PlayOnMac - Free alternative

Install The Sims 4

Install The Sims 4 through EA App or Origin using your compatibility software:

  • Download EA App for Windows
  • Install it through CrossOver/Parallels
  • Download and install The Sims 4 from EA App

Locate Game Directory

Find where The Sims 4 is installed. The path depends on your setup:

CrossOver:
~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/[BottleName]/drive_c/Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 4/

Parallels:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\ (inside Windows VM)

Download DLC Files

Visit our manual downloads page and download the DLCs you want:

manualdownloads.html

Download them to your Mac's Downloads folder, then move them to the Windows environment.

Extract DLC Files

Extract the .zip files to your game directory:

  • Use The Unarchiver or built-in Archive Utility
  • Extract each DLC .zip file
  • Copy the contents to The Sims 4 game folder
Tip: You can drag and drop files between macOS and your Windows environment in CrossOver/Parallels.

Install EA DLC Unlocker

Download and install the EA DLC Unlocker:

Install it in the same Windows environment as your game.

Critical: The DLC Unlocker must be installed in the same bottle/VM as The Sims 4!

Configure and Launch

Make sure everything is properly configured:

  • Verify all DLC files are in the correct location
  • Ensure EA DLC Unlocker is running
  • Launch The Sims 4 through EA App

Enjoy Your Game!

All DLCs should now be available in your game. Have fun!

Troubleshooting:
  • If DLCs don't appear, restart the game and EA App
  • Check that EA DLC Unlocker is running in the background
  • Verify file permissions in your Windows environment
  • For M1/M2 Macs: Ensure Rosetta 2 is installed
